Hi! I'm Marco, a graduate of Robert Kennedy College.
Let me tell you a bit about myself.
Male, 52 years. Married, two kids. Dutch, living just across the border in Belgium. Study #1 was IT at the Technical University in Delft, The Netherlands. I managed to do 1.5 years in 1.5 years, straight, and then decided it was getting too technical. I switched to study #2, Econometrics, at the Erasmus University Rotterdam, The Netherlands. After having finished that one, I started to work. After a start in management consulting I quickly moved into sales. First at Lucent Technologies, then at Atos Origin where my last role was Head of Sales for the outsourcing division in the Benelux. In December 2006 I quit my job in order to lead the European team of an SMB company called Traxon Technologies, HQ in Hong Kong and active in "controllable LED lighting". That company grew fast and was sold at the end of 2009 to Osram. Since then I have done various assignments of appr. 3 years each, changing and growing companies and then selling them on behalf of the shareholders. In 2018 I started doing auditing assigment, mainly in cyber security, along with some M&A consulting and deal making assignments. As of the end of 2021 I started an IT company which currently has 12 employees and is growing fast. In parallel I'm the "consigliere" of an experienced serial entrepreneur with multiple companies, who has chosen to be the chairman of the boards of those companies and loves to gradullay shift a whole lot of tasks and responsibilities on my shoulders.
The reason I choose to do an LLM at Salford / RKC was to formalize and strengthen the legal experience I have grown over 28 years, as a non-legal and very commercial guy who loves contracting, compliance and legal discussions
It was almost a Zen-alike experience to grant myself the opportunity to focus for multiple days on one subject, and really dive into the depths of it. It had been 27 years since I allowed myself to do that, and I loved it. I learned a lot of things during my LLM and it enabled me to think and work on a different, more intense, level. Great experience!
If you have any questions about my experiences of studying with RKC, I would be happy to share them with you.
